With increases in the volume and speed of motor traffic on our roads, they are becoming more dangerous for the most vulnerable road users such as cyclists and pedestrians.
The good news is that some of the many new housing estates are being built with paths which are not open to motorised traffic.
Here in Derby we have an example of the best of these path at Langley Country Park, which was recently opened close by Radbourne Lane which is adjacent to Mickleover and the Mackworth Estate.

The area us unlikely to flood being on top of a hill, but several of these drainage ponds have been put in making a nice feature and providing a haunt for wildlife.
After turning right, follow the path along by this fencing along the East side of the estate.
These houses face Northwards, looking over open countryside.
Tantalizing views through the gap in the hedge looking over towards Mackworth village.
